Newborn Stomach Size

Your Baby's Stomach Volume and Nutritional Requirements by Day

Stomach capacity of newborn babies is very small in the first days. Therefore, taking small amounts of breast milk at frequent intervals is best for their development. Below you can see the scaled visual representations of your baby's stomach volume by day.

Neonatal ICU Breastfeeding Policy

The key elements of our breastfeeding and breast milk policy applied in our neonatal intensive care unit are:

POLICY ARTICLE #01

All health personnel working in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have received breast milk and breastfeeding counseling training and have the skills to provide this counseling. The training also includes babies with special conditions such as low birth weight and high-risk infants.

This policy is implemented with utmost sensitivity across all our wards and units.
